Spanish Dual Language Programs allow students to develop proficiency in two languages by receiving content area instruction in both English and Spanish. Students, regardless of native language proficiency, are provided with ample exposure to languages, allowing them to achieve academic excellence while becoming bilingual and bi-literate. The program also emphasizes cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Criteria:
Kindergarten through First Grade
• Completed application
Second through Fifth Grade
• Completed application
• Acceptable score on the language proficiency test
• Discipline infractions may impact final acceptance into the program


**Unidos Dual Language students are automatically accepted into Morrow Middle Spanish Dual Language program. However, if there are more applicants than seats, students will be required to apply to Morrow Middle’s Spanish Dual Language Program.

Academic Expectations:
Must maintain an “70” or better in grades K-2 and a “C” or better in grades 3-5 in all classes. Be eligible for promotion to the next grade at the end of the regular school year. At the end of the first semester, the student may be placed on probation if he/she has not met the required standards. At the end of the next semester, the student may be dismissed from the program if the required standards still have not
been met.

Attendance:
No more than 8 unexcused tardies to school and no more than 8 unexcused absences to school. Failure to meet this expectation will result in the student being placed on probation for the remainder of the current school year. The student/parent will be required to provide an excuse for all subsequent tardies or absences. Students
who fail to meet this expectation will be dismissed from the program.

Conduct Expectations:
Students must adhere to the rules and regulations as outlined by the faculty and staff. Students cannot receive a NI/U for conduct in their academic or theme-based courses. Five or more level 1 infractions can result in probation/dismissal. One Level 2-4 infraction can result in automatic dismissal from the program.
